The Richmond Country Club (RCC) is recruiting a full-time Director, Racquets to join our dynamic team. The Director, Racquets reports to the General Manager & COO and is responsible for our members and guests racquet experience at RCC. This leader is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and contributes to executing the club’s vision based on RCC’s strategic framework and is responsible for its implementation. This leader is also in charge of managing the tennis professional’s team and programming. This leader will be directly responsible for all financial aspects of the Club’s Racquets operations and will work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team, to ensure top-class services are delivered to our members and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Director, Racquets:
In summary, the main function of the Director, Racquets is to hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and supervise the team of tennis professional, as well as to manage, direct, and instruct tennis programs, tournaments, leagues, and events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directing and overseeing the Racquets operations.
- Providing an exceptional level of instruction, coordination, and administrative support services for the racquet program, in keeping with the aims, goals, and objectives established by the RCC management.
- Providing a full range of participation-oriented group and individual coaching to members enrolled in the racquet program.
- Planning and hosting of any tournaments or special events as required.
- Promoting the tennis programs, through the Club’s website, publications, and newsletters, while also informing other departments within the Club of all significant events.
- Attending events and meetings assigned by the General Manager & COO to promote RCC.
- Carrying out services in a responsible and satisfactory manner and will act at all times in the best interests of the Club and its members and their families.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Membership:
- To be ultimately responsible for members and guests, racquets experiences, and be accountable for meeting operational standards.
- Expected to be engaging with the membership, both to elicit feedback and to foster relationships.
- Resolving issues brought to their attention by members, guests, and staff.
- Creating strategies to implement member engagement to support membership growth and retention.
- Providing a high level of instruction, coordination, program/event planning and administrative support services for the racquets program to support the Club’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Providing advice towards the future direction of the department in conjunction with the GM & COO and Racquets Committe
- A maximum of 15 coaching hours per week.
- Identifying marketing opportunities to promote the Club.
- Creating and enforcing policies, Club rules, and regulations as appropriate and timely.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule to accomplish all major responsibilities and willing to accept assignments on an as-needed basis.
Administration:
- Dealing with game time and ensuring bookings are carried out properly.
- Produce all the billings for all leagues and events.
- Responsible for the department’s monthly reporting, ensuring oversight of operational expenses.
- Providing reports as required such as statistical analysis reports including but not limited to courts, events, results, instructions, bookings, etc.
- Assisting in the development of capital and operational budgets for the racquets department and staying aligned with the 5-year strategic plan.
- Attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
- Attending weekly leadership meetings to provide updates on the racquets department.
- Attending Racquets Committee meetings.
- Ensuring the Racquets department is adhering to up-to-date safety standards.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with the Tennis Committee as it relates to programs, leagues, and overall member experience.
Team:
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and retaining the Club’s tennis professionals.
- Scheduling regular meetings with coaches to be involved in their growth and development with the Club.
- Conducting coaches’ performance and evaluation meetings.
- Scheduling coaches fairly and appropriately.
- Formulate the program curriculum with the team.
- Tournaments and Events:
- Plan and host tournaments and special events.
- Ensure that all tennis programs, services, and events are submitted for inclusion in the Club’s publications at the assigned time.
- Publishing event and tournament results on the appropriate publication channels appropriately.
- Liaison with Tennis B.C. and Tennis Canada attending TBC AGM and other workshops and meetings.
Facilities:
- Ensuring the racquet facilities are always top-notch by reporting any repairs or maintenance work that is needed or suggesting new initiatives to enhance the operations.
- Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum NCCP Level 2, Club Pro 2, Coach 2 minimum is required, or above is preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in managing/instructing/directing/coaching and financial accountability is required.
- Competitive playing experience is preferred.
- Previous and proven experience working with a range of levels in tennis is required.
- Strong organizational, and leadership skills and proven business acumen is required.
- Proven ability to adhere to budgets and meet goals.
- Must be an excellent communicator (verbal and written), with strong interpersonal skills is required.
- Competent technology skills are required such as using Microsoft Office efficiently.
- Strong customer service orientation and professionalism.
- Professional, businesslike conduct and presentation.
- A positive background check.

Job Description:

The Tennis Professional must have a comprehensive and diverse skill set with experience teaching in junior and adult programs. The Tennis Professional will work closely with the leadership team to deliver successful programs & lessons and events on and off the court to grow Tennis within the Jericho Tennis Community.
Reporting to the Director of Tennis, the Tennis Professional will be responsible for teaching adult clinics, junior programs and private lessons. The Tennis Professional will be expected to have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. This position initially will require flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends according to the club program needs.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Teaching private lessons, camps, junior and adult group programs as required
- Assist or lead the delivery of adult and junior programs
- Perform all administrative duties required for areas of responsibility
- Participate in junior and adult social events as required
- Attend team meetings and assist with program development
- Monitor and assist with the safety of our players / participants
- Provide and maintain superior customer service to members in the overall delivery of the tennis program
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with staff & members as well as external organizations and partners (i.e., Tennis Canada, Tennis BC);
- Assist in the evaluation of junior and adult tennis programming on an annual basis. Make recommendations to the Tennis Director to improve service or programming.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Tennis Canada certified Instructor or International Equivalent.
- Minimum 2 -5 years of experience in the Tennis Industry
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail oriented with good organizational skills
- Criminal Record Check required
- Willing to obtain, or currently has First Aid Certification
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

The candidate should have post-secondary education and prior work experience, preferably in recreation, sports management, or business, and be comfortable in a managerial leadership role. This role is salary-based with a starting annual salary of $55,000-$83,000, depending on level of education and experience.
Summer Smash Tennis based in Vancouver, Canada is looking to hire a full or part-time Tennis Instructor for May-August 2025. The coach should be certified and have an understanding of the Progressive Tennis Model. This role is wage-based with a starting hourly rate of $28/hr – $60/hr depending on level of certification and experience.
