Position Summary: This position is for a part time instructor to be available to teach
junior and adult clinics, group lessons, private lessons and run the summer camps at the
club. The instructor needs to be available from the beginning of May – end of August
2024.

  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience
  • Must be certified with Tennis Canada Instructor level or Club Pro 1
  • Must pass a criminal record check.
  • For international applicants – must have a valid Canadian Work visa.


The instructor must be highly motivated and work well with both adults and children and
have a strong understanding on Tennis Canada coaching methodology, (such as the
progressive tennis system).

This is a unique seasonal opportunity in beautiful Penticton B.C. from April – October.

Penticton Tennis Club has approximately 300 members and 4 outdoor tennis courts adjacent to Okanagan Lake.  We are looking for a seasoned tennis professional to help grow our club who has experience coaching junior and adult players, individual lessons as well as group clinics.  To date we have had a very successful junior program with approximately 75 junior members.  In addition, our adult members have been avid lesson takers, keen to improve their game. 

We are flexible in both the working terms and rate of compensation and look forward to discussing this opportunity with any interested individuals to explore how we can meet each others needs.

Our community is passionate about tennis and keen to welcome a qualified tennis professional to our club.

The Tennis Professional will be responsible for teaching group and private lessons for the junior and adult tennis programs at the North Shore Winter Club. This full-time role includes teaching recreational and high performance juniors, and lessons for advanced, intermediate, and beginner adults including evenings and weekends.

This individual should be outgoing, reliable, and knowledgeable in all aspects of our sport, and 100% committed to providing a fun and competitive playing environment for all our junior and adult players at the North Shore Winter Club.

• Must have Tennis Canada Club Professional 1 certification

• Demonstrate good communication skills. Be direct in dealing with parents and club members.

• Design lessons/activities for the duration of the session that address the skill level of the students

• Help organize and structure the junior high-performance programs including setting up lesson plans, organizing team building events, and tournament trips in and out of town.

• Must have the ability to be upbeat and energetic throughout each lesson.

• Provide a friendly approach and be knowledgeable about both the junior tennis program and the adult tennis program and help provide a welcoming environment to each student.

• Adhere to all club/court rules and regulations, be a good example.

• Collect, manage, and return all club equipment in good working condition.

• Ensure that the students are always engaged in the lessons/activities and that each student feels successful at every session.

• Share your passion for the game of tennis and make your students smile!

• Other duties as assigned and agreed upon with the Tennis Director.

Tennis Yukon operates four outdoor courts with programming from May-August, and then provides programming in school gyms for Sept-April. TY is a non-profit society offering coaching services, group activities, and tournaments. TY is the sport-governing body for tennis in the Yukon and was started in 2007.

TY is immediately seeking to contract with a certified tennis coach for approximately 35 hours per week, April-August 2024. We are seeking a coach who will prioritize building the player base.

The coach will deliver quality instruction and programming for adults and juniors, including group and private lessons, camps, and clinics. Organizing league and tournament play is also expected.

April 1-August 31, 2024

The Successful Candidate will require:

-excellent communication skills
-a track record of programming leadership and growth in recreation
-enthusiasm for developing and growing tennis programs and pipelines
-tennis instruction (private and group) and coaching for juniors and adults
-minimum of Instructor Certification but higher would be preferred
-TPA and SafeSport certified
-must be flexible with weekly schedule (i.e. evenings and weekend availability is a necessity)
-friendly, caring, outgoing, punctual, reliable, willingness to improve and be on court all day
-ability to play with all levels up to 5.0
-familiarity with social media
-Vulnerable Sector Police Background/Criminal Record Check
-Candian citizenship


The contract will pay $30,800
35 hours/week x $40/hour x 22 weeks
First Aid certification will be provided if the candidate does not already have it.
