North Vancouver, BC – Yesterday at the Davis Trading Junior ITF Indoor Championships, all the boys singles second round matches were played. Coming off of his victory against the No. 1 seed, Keita Duclos led the BC players by overcoming American Ryan Johnson 6-3, 6-1. Jayden Templeman was the only other Canadian to get through the day unscathed as American players dominated the second round matches.
In girls doubles action, Canadians and first seeds Leena Bennetto and Martyna Ostrzygalo moved on to the semifinals by winning a close three set match over Canadian duo Rachel Krzyzak and Chae Eun Yoo. The score was 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. All four girls doubles teams in the semifinals are Canadian with seven out of eight semifinals representing BC.
Today, it is quarterfinals day for the boys and girls singles. Starting at 9 AM, sixth seed Stefanie Frias da Silva and third seed Danielle Tuhten, both from BC, will be among the players in action. No. 1 Jenna Defalco will also battle Canadian Rachel Krzyzak on court 1. Also at 9 AM, will be three boys quarterfinals featuring second seed Dominik Jakovljevic against Nate Bonetto. Boys and girls doubles semifinal action will follow the singles and begin not before 11 AM. This includes an all Canadian match up that pits Lachlan Robertson and Aron Pilbart against Henry Ren and Berk Tunali.
Be sure to come down to the North Vancouver Tennis Centre this week to catch the Davis Trading Junior ITF Indoor Championships J4 live in action. This event includes international players and the top junior from BC and Canada competing for international U18 ranking points and the Davis Trading Junior ITF Indoor Championships title.
Friday will feature the singles semifinals and doubles finals. The event concludes on Saturday with both singles finals in the morning.
